One thing that’s for sure: Fashion’s athleisure obsession isn’t going anywhere. If anything—thanks to top designers such as Riccardo Tisci collaborating with Nike and Kanye West staging the most-talked-about show during Fashion Month with Adidas—it’s more relevant than ever.
We spotted, in addition to the sheer volume of hoodies on the street during Fashion Month, a disproportionally large number of street-style stars rocking the classic Adidas Rip Away pants. And they were anything but the uninspired gym-class scourge we remember them to be.
Off-duty models, stylists, and editors paired the pants (along with elevated designer versions) with heels, patterned tunics, elegant blazers, and leather moto jackets—making them a key piece for transitional spring weather. we also saw the look, going in the complete opposite direction, paired with athletic bombers, cool kicks, and sweatshirts.
It makes sense that track pants are having a revival right now: During its Spring 2016 show, Chloé sent a plethora of different-colored, side-striped variations down the runway styled with an interesting mix of bohemian lace blouses, half-zipped sweatshirts and ’90s-inspired “going-out tops,” really showcasing the value and versatility of the sporty staple.
